HEADLINE Jet black Oldsmobile 88 convertible with new red interior and lots of new chrome and a new black canvas top. A rare and desirable color combination. The new second series 88 came with Rocket 324 engine, 4 barrel carburetor, automatic, power steering and power brakes and power top, dual exhaust, spinner hubcaps and rare continental kit. In 1954 the 88 model was redesigned with longer lower body styling, longer wheel base at 122 inches and wrap around windows.
EXTERIOR This unique black beauty has new jet black paint over exquisite body lines with lots of new chrome, new bumpers front and back, new grill and grill bar, new chrome, re-chromed original world emblem and re-chromed rocket ship on the hood. It also has new side trim on the front and back, new rare continental kit, chrome and new bumper-ettes, new headlight and tail light bezels lenses. The body of this car is extremely solid and well preserved with great metal structure and panel fit.
INTERIOR This rare car is just as amazing on the inside. New red leatherette seat covers, door panels and carpet. Very cool retro styled dash that is original and very well maintained with very nice instrumentation, original radio, original steering wheel in great condition and new red dash pad that was optional and improved for safety in 1954. This substantial car is topped off with a heavy duty canvas power top and new red convertible boot.
MECHANICS The engine in this stylized space ship is the Rocket V8 324 cubic inch engine, 170 hp, which was increased from the previous 303 cubic inch Deluxe 88 model. The engine compartment is in time bubble condition and beautiful detailed with he correct Oldsmobile valve covers and air cleaner. This classic cruiser car is nicely optioned with a 3 speed, automatic transmission, power steering and power brakes.
UNDERCARRIAGE This amazing car is extremely solid and intact on the undercarriage with solid intact floors, frame and body supports. The car has dual factory style exhaust with chrome tips. The car has great cub appeal rolling on correct steel wheels; New 3 spoke hub caps on a newer set of white wall radial tires.
