Elegant Black with Silver accents, 1932 Auburn 898-A Boattail Speedster with 7 miles since a comprehensive restoration.   This impressive automotive masterpiece, underwent a meticulous multi-year ground up restoration with attention to the smallest details.  The concours level paint job was completed by, ten time World of Wheels Winner, Blair Smith.  The all steel body was shaped to perfection before being exquisitely dressed in black with silver trim to accentuate the gorgeous Boattail body lines and and then jeweled with new chrome and stainless. Presented period correct features as running boards, correct Auburn depressed beam sealed headlights flanking a 1932 Auburn honeycomb waterfall-style radiator grille, dual side-mount spares with Auburn mirrors and dual Auburn Pilot Ray tail lights. Dual cowl lights, articulated driving lights, trumpet horns and new chromed bows and latches are also fitted. The bench seat interior features contrasting red leather, a dash-mounted mirror, a clock and an engine-turned instrument panel. A period-correct Auburn, chrome-plated Mercury Man mascot serves as the crowning touch to this classic Boattail Speedster.

One of the first genuine American sporting automobiles, the Auburn Boattail Speedster was produced sporadically from 1929 through 1935, its elegant two-seat roadster coachwork and jaunty 4.4L Lycoming Straight Eight engine were the defining elements of style and speed in the late '20s and early '30s. This unique 1932 Auburn 898-A Boattail Speedster was one of 39 built and was the subject of a comprehensive frame- off nut and bolt restoration, completed by Jerry Richman, professional Auburn and Lincoln Restoration specialist. Jerry has undertaken several 100-point Auburn restoration projects and this was the car he built he built to show and go and actually be a pleasure to drive.  This 1932 Auburn 898-A started by incorporating an all-steel Auburn Boattail body on an original Auburn frame, with all parts machined to fit seamlessly into the chassis for an authentic presentation. Under the hood looks like a factory correct with a Auburn Lycoming Straight 8 engine, but is actually a better built,  period correct Buick block the was topped off with components to resemble the Lycoming  straight 8, but runs and shift much better, mated period correct, better shifting, Packard 1935 manual transmission and a 1935 Packard air-operated, 2-speed rear end that is great for city driving in first gear and will actually do the speed limit on the freeway in second gear. The brakes were upgraded from mechanical to Bendix hydraulic at a cost of over 10k and machined to fit the Auburn wheels. The engine, transmission, rear end and brakes were precisely machined to correctly fit the Auburn chassis as well.  This exquisite Auburn American Dream Machine is rolling in correct, rebuilt and re-chromed, Auburn Prop Center, knock off spoke wheels and a new set of dual side wide white tires for that investment grade Auburn look.
